Sustainable Development

What is Sustainable Development?

It is the ability to meet the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of the future generation to meet their needs.

Why does it matter?

Sustainable development is important because if we continue with our current consumption patterns, we will be confronted with the inevitable degradation of the earths resources which will ultimately render the earth inhabitable for future generations. By embarking on a mission to pursue sustainable development and diligently pursuing the United Nations’ sustainable development goals for 2030 and 2050, there is hope that we will be able to avoid such an outcome.

Where does Equality come into play?

The goal of sustainable development is to improve living standards for everyone and make sure no one is left behind. In order to do so we must work towards eliminating poverty, improving access to education and healthcare, and addressing other barriers that prevent people from having equal opportunities.
